Brophy Prep senior attackman Robert Mayasich has died from injuries he sustained after being hit by a car in a long-distance relay race, Brophy lacrosse board member Jim Fishman said.

Mayasich, 18, suffered massive head trauma as a result of the collision, which happened at 1:30 a.m., Saturday.

Brophy Prep has postponed its first two games scheduled for this week, Fishman said. The Broncos had been scheduled to face Desert Mountain on Wednesday night and Chaparral on Friday. Both of those games will be rescheduled for later in the season.

The Broncos will now open their season Tuesday, March 9 vs. Chandler, Fishman said.
