Sophomore attackman Kurt Roscoe scored a game-high four goals to lead Brighton to a 13-5 victory over Alta in a Utah High School Lacrosse League Division I game Friday night.

Junior attackman Jayden Haws added three goals, junior middie Brandon Wall had three points on two goals and an assist and junior middie Cole Fox scored twice to help the Bengals (1-0) post an impressive season-opening win.

Sophomore middie Elias Fairman and junior middie Dillon Tran each finished with a goal and an assist to round out the offense for Brighton.

In defeat, senior middie Paco Smith scored twice for Alta, which fell to 1-1.

Brighton definitely lived up to its preseason billing and then some on Friday. The Bengals rolled to a 4-1 lead by the end of the first quarter and were ahead 7-3 at halftime. Brighton then scored back-to-back goals to start the second half and push their advantage to 9-3 in the third before rolling to the finish.

“I thought the team played very well for being so early in the season,” Brighton head coach Steve Gray said. “We really came together well.”
