TEX BOYS: Brendan Schindel Commits to Providence College
August 17th, 2009
Stony Point rising senior middie Brendan Schindel has verbally committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at Providence College.
Schindel is the first player in the history of the Stony Point program to commit to a Division I program. He also considered Dartmouth, Kenyon College and Franklin & Marshall before settling on the Rhode Island-based school.
“The challenge of playing in the Big East was too much to pass up,” Schindel said. “The caliber of play was just too good.”
Schindel said members of the Providence coaching staff contacted him after they saw him play at the University of Denver team camp in 2008. He is the second West Sider to commit to Providence this summer, joining Southern Cailfornia’s Zach Rogers.
“There hasn’t been a lot of Division I players coming out of Central Texas,” Schindel added. “Representing Central Texas is a big deal to me. I want to carry myself well and do my best on the field.”
