AS: Arizona Burn Orange Rolls Past Seattle Starz Navy, 11-3

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- Attackman Ben Cummings scored a game-high five goals to lead third-seeded Arizona Burn Orange to an 11-3 victory over seventh-seeded Seattle Starz Navy in an Adrenaline High School Shootout semifinal Sunday morning at Sonoma State University.
With the victory, Arizona (6-0-1) advanced to Sunday afternoon’s championship game and will face fifth-seeded Seattle Starz Green at 12:30 p.m., PDT.
Middie Finn Wells added three points on a goal and two assists, and attackmen Tomas Daniels and Jeff Smith each scored twice for Arizona. Middie Nick Latham had two assists, middie Adam Beauchamp scored once and middie Garrett Ross had an assist to round out the Arizona offense.
Defensively, goalie Russell Bartle saved six shots.
In defeat, attackman Barrett Jenness scored twice, attackman Colin MacIlvennie scored once and attackman Cedric Rhodes dished an assist for Seattle Navy (4-3).
Cummings scored all five of his goals in the first half to stake Arizona to a big lead. The game was tied, 1-1, when Cummings scored three unanswered goals, all on underhand rips from the outside, within a one-minute span.
Cummings first scored off a feed from Wells on a man-up opportunity to give Arizona a 2-1 lead. He then scored immediately off the next two face-offs after taking passes from Latham to make it 4-1. He scored once more, his fifth of the game, on a man-up opportunity with six minutes to play in the first half.
By halftime, Arizona led 8-1.
“It just felt good today,” Cummings said. “Coach (Chris) Malone hates (my underhand shot), so I had to show him it works sometimes.”
