MO BOYS: Andrew Boyd Commits to Army

January 21st, 2009

Parkway West senior middie-attackman Andrew Boyd has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Boyd said he also considered Brown but chose to go to Army after they pursued him the hardest. Boyd said he was first noticed at the Midwest 99 Lacrosse Camp in Ohio.

“They were actually the first Division I school to contact me after my sophomore year,” Boyd said. “They never lost interest in me, brought me up there and showed me a good time. A lot of guys who played there and had played there convinced me it was a great place.”

Boyd said he knows making it at the Division I level will be a challenge, but he is determined to succeed.

“I’m just going to try to do my best,” he said. “At the end of the day, if I work my tail off there’s nothing else I can do. It’s probably going to be harder for a kid from the Midwest to make the transition from high school to college, but I’m not going to let that stop me.”
