Waterford senior middie Allie Hoffler has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at Quinnipiac University.

Hoffler said she also considered Division III schools Puget Sound and Ohio Wesleyan before settling on the Hamden, Conn.-based school.

“I liked the team, and the school academically was good for me,” Hoffler said. “It’s a top lacrosse program, but it also has top academics. I’m going to be challenged.”

Hoffler is believed to be Utah’s first recruited NCAA Division I player. She has experience playing in high-level club tournaments, and she said she believes that has prepared her for a successful transition to the college game.

“I think I’ll be able to be ready for the challenge,” she said.
