Mira Costa senior defenseman Alex Dodge has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at McDaniel College.

Dodge said he also considered Dickenson, Ursinus, Washington College, Goucher and Santa Clara before settling on the Westminster, Md.-based school.

“I got the best feel from the coaches,” Dodge said. “They were the most engaged and genuine. I wanted to be able to take lacrosse to the next level, have a team to be on and have that extra community feel.”

Dodge said he’s ready to make the transition from the high school to the college game.

“I know it’s going to be a pretty difficult to go from California to Maryland, and I know it’s going to be a whole different level. But I feel like I’m going to have something to prove, being from California," Dodge said.

“I’m willing to give it my all and work toward that, because I’ve been on a team for seven years and lacrosse is just such a huge part of my life.”
