SoCAL BOYS: Alex Bookout Commits to Denison University

August 25th, 2010

Coronado senior attackman Alex Bookout has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Denison University.

Bookout said he also considered Wittenberg, Dominican (Calif.) and UC Santa Barbara before settling on the Granville, Ohio-based school.

“It has the best academics, and there are a few other Coronado kids there,” Bookout said. “I know I’ll be more comfortable there, because I could go to them for help. I got a great feeling when I went there.”

Coronado head coach Alex Cade said Bookout’s determination and size will give him a leg up on the college stage.

“Alex is an extremely hard-working athlete with a very large frame,” Cade said. “His size, athleticism and work ethic make him an excellent fit for the Denison program.”

Bookout added that he plans to work on his skills between now and the start of the spring 2012 season.

“I know I’m going to have to work really hard,” Bookout said. “I’m shooting all the time and working with current Denison player Cory Couture on improving my game. I just need to improve my game so I can help the team as early as possible.”
