ID BOYS: Adam Marfice Leads Lake City Past Couer d'Alene
May 12th, 2009
Junior middie Adam Marfice scored a game-high six goals to lead Lake City to a 14-4 victory over Coeur d’Alene in a North Idaho Lacrosse League game Monday.
Senior attackman Adam Fenenbock added six points on three goals and three assists, and sophomore middie Jesse Hanson finished with three points on two goals and one assist to help the Timberwolves (9-3) close the regular season on a six-game winning streak.
Senior middie Ben Webb added a pair of goals and junior attackman Travis Barron scored once to round out the offense for Lake City.
Defensively, senior goalie Ben Kopke saved 15 shots.
In a losing effort, sophomore attackman Cory Mortensen scored twice for Coeur d’Alene, which fell to 5-7.
Lake City rallied to pull out a dramatic win in the teams’ first meeting, but the second go-round didn’t have nearly the same suspense.
The Timberwolves led 2-0 at the end of the first quarter, 6-1 at halftime and 10-3 going into the fourth quarter.
“We were rusty at the beginning of the season, and our confidence was shot coming out of Seattle,” Marfice said. “But throughout the season, we’ve found our identity.”
